Since Darci was born, she has been quite particular about her sleeping arrangements. She prefers to sleep rocking in her swing, she prefers to fall asleep with us rocking her, and she prefers to be swaddled in order to fall asleep at naptimes and bedtime.
Now that she is starting to fall into a bit of a routine, we decided it is time for her to sleep in her crib, unswaddled. She is mature enough now to show her emotions and not just be in distress when things are not the way she would like them to be. The last three nights, I have put her to bed in the crib, with no swaddling. The first night she fell asleep in there unexpectedly while I was on the phone with my dad and was fiddling around the nursery gathering her laundry and such. The next night I tried going in just a couple of times when she really got worked up and calmed her with a bottle.
Tonight it was a little bit harder for me. She was definitely tired after being up for more than 4 hours, she was fed and clean. And she cried forcefully for about half an hour before falling asleep. It's so tough to hear her cry, and she's so little I don't want her to feel scared or lonely, but I know it will just take a few nights and she'll be more comfortable falling asleep on her own in her crib.
She's sleeping there now.....
